Herleville, France Yesterday Udet scored his 54th victory to tie his friend Loewenhardt.  Today Udet and his squadron mates tangled with a group of Sopwith Camels near Herleville, France and scored his 55th vicory.

DVIIs vs RAF Bristol F2bs 

14th Aug 1918   

Vermandovillers, France 

Shortly after Udet's friend and competitor, Erich Loewenhardt's death, Udet equalled and surpassed Loewenhardt's total of 54 victories. On the 14th of August, 1918, Udet tangled with the Bristol F.2Bs of RAF 88 Squadron near Vermandovillers. In this engagement Udet scored a victory to tie Loewenhardt's 54.
